FAQs

If you are unfamiliar with using translation services, please see this FAQs page for the answers to some common questions.

What languages do you offer for translation?

Chinese Technical Translations offers precise, reliable translations between Chinese and English. We also translate with an in-depth knowledge of culture, which is essential for ensuring that the meaning of a text is conveyed in the most effective and appropriate way.

Please note that Hong Kong and Taiwan use slightly different written characters than mainland China. Please specify your requirements or target market regions so that we will be able to provide you with translations that are ideal for your purposes.

Who will work on my translation?

All our translation work is done by highly qualified professional translators with industry-specific knowledge suited to each project. In addition, the translations we provide for our clients are carefully checked by a proofreader and inspected by an editor, which means that professional translators, proofreaders and expert editors will all work on your translation. This process results in a finished product that is technically precise, as well as reading naturally and clearly in the target language.

Any enquiries will be answered within the shortest time possible and we are always punctual in meeting our customers’ deadlines. During the translation process, we communicate with our customers whenever necessary, making sure that the final translation will meet their requirements.

How much will my translation cost?

A fixed fee is normally agreed at the beginning of each project. The fee quoted will take into account the length and complexity of the text, how quickly the translation is needed and other factors such as special formatting requirements. Discounts are available for high volumes of work.

How long will the translation process take?

It is recommended that you allow approximately one working day for 2000-2500 words to be translated. Please let us know if you require work to be completed for a tight deadline, as we will be happy to discuss getting your project finished more quickly.

Are you able to handle highly confidential work?

Chinese Technical Translations treats every piece of work with due care. In addition, we will be happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) if required. Copies of your source documents and translations will usually be kept for one year unless you instruct otherwise, after which all documents will be securely destroyed.

How will the finished translation be sent to me?

We will be happy to send your translations to you directly by email in PDF, MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint format, or in other formats if required. Please note that you might not be able to read electronic files if your computer software does not have the appropriate fonts for Chinese language; we will usually send you a PDF version to resolve this. If you require your translated documents to be sent to you by post, we will be happy to do this using Royal Mail Special Delivery with an additional charge to cover postage costs.

Are you able to provide Certified Translations?

Yes. Chinese Technical Translations is able to provide certified translations of documents for official/legal use. Find out more about our Certified Translation Services.
